"The connection to Microsoft Exchange is Unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
Getting this message when Outlook tries to start. This is a new account on the Exchange server. Had identical problem using Outlook 2003 & thought upgrade to Office 2010 would resolve it - no luck. Can log on to network without problems. Can connect to Exchange thru OWA w/ no problem. Using OWA, can send msgs & receive INTERNAL messages. Messages sent to Exchange account from outside the network bounce back indicating the account is 'restricted'. Can access account on another workstation using either Outlook 2003 or 2010. Can't see any differences between this Exchange account & others that work fine. Has to be something on the workstation, but don't know where to look.

Verify that you haven't restricted who can send to the user. You may have checked the box that says only authenticated users can send to the account. >Can access account on another workstation using either Outlook 2003 or 2010. When you created the Outlook profile did you do so manually or by using AutoDiscover? If manually, when you clicked the "Check names" button, was it successful? You con't mention what release, service pack, and rollups you're running. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. What does this sentence mean: “Can access account on another workstation using either Outlook 2003 or 2010.”? Does it mean that the account can access Outlook on another machine? 2. Which version of Exchange server is installed, Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010? At this stage, I suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Replace another machine and try to login on the new created user to check the result. 2. Create another new account in ADUC and assign a mailbox. Then, please check whether it can launch Outlook normally. Thanks.
